Bluegrass Banjo (Intermediate) is a continuation of Banjo 1(Beginning), and previous experience is definitely preferred. Lessons include moveable chords, partial fingering techniques, intermediate to advanced roll patterns and techniques, string tricks such as string slides, bends, hammer-ons, Pull-offs, etc., as well as intermediate backup techniques, and an in-depth exploration of the fingerboard. A 5-string banjo is required for this course. Bring your banjo, a notebook, and pen to the first class. Rental instruments may be available. Supplemental materials/books are included with the course.
About the instructor: Tim Morrison has been active in the acoustic music scene for many years in the Salt Lake Valley. He is a former president of the Intermountain Acoustic Music Association (IAMA), is the director of Utah Friends of Bluegrass, and was the judging director for the Utah State Instrument Championships for over 20 years. Tim has recorded with various bluegrass bands and has both promoted and played at many concert venues, festivals, and shows from coast to coast and many places in between. Tim has been involved for over 30 years with Community Education programs, teaching Karate/Self-Defense/Tae Kwon Do, and for the last 20+ years teaching guitar, banjo, and mandolin classes.
