Intro to Beekeeping

This class introduces the fundamentals of beekeeping and prepares students to order and care for their first hive in the spring.  Topics include: Basic Bee Biology, Pests and management, Hives, Essential Equipment, and Installation, History of Beekeeping, Management and Inspections, Beeswax Lip Balm Class, and Laws and Practices in Utah. In addition to the scheduled classes, there will be two apiary visits and an invitation to Rose Park Bee Club's Honey Party.  The apiary visits are weather and temperature-dependent and will be announced later. 

Please bring your own jacket and veil and a notebook, or you can select the optional $20 Veil Fee and one will provided for you in class.

About the instructor:  Alex Wonder is an urban beekeeper based in Utah.  She manages 25 hives in SLC, has 3 years of backyard beekeeping, and has her Journeyman level certification.
