Explore the expressive possibilities of charcoal while learning the foundations of drawing. Through creative exercises, you’ll practice line, shape, and shading, developing your eye for detail alongside a freer, more spontaneous approach to making marks.
Begin with simple three-dimensional objects, then build toward more complex still-life arrangements as you learn how to bring a whole composition together. Later exercises may include plants and the human form. Along the way, you’ll experiment with gesture, build confidence, and begin to discover your own drawing style. Supportive group discussions will offer opportunities to share your work, learn from one another, and develop the vocabulary to talk about what you see.
