Learn to take more intentional photographs and understand why your images don’t always turn out the way you hoped. Over the session, you’ll learn to use your camera with greater confidence, compose stronger images, and take your photographs through basic editing and printing. Designed for beginning and intermediate photographers who want to build both their technical skills and their creative eye. You’ll practice by taking photographs between sessions, with some opportunities to shoot during class, and receive feedback on your work. Bring your camera to each class so you can explore its settings with the instructor’s guidance. A DSLR or mirrorless camera is recommended. A point-and-shoot camera can also work, but phones are not recommended.
About the instructor: Andrew McLellan is a fine art photographer based in Utah, whose work explores the quiet intersection of wilderness, light, and time. Through sweeping landscapes and intimate wildlife portraits, he creates images that invite viewers into moments few are fortunate enough to witness.
Defined by a cinematic sensibility, his photographs are carefully composed, richly atmospheric, and deeply immersive. Each piece is intended not simply to document the natural world but to evoke the profound experience of encountering it in its most pristine state.
A lifelong outdoorsman, Andrew has spent thousands of hours traversing remote landscapes throughout the American West. His connection to these places extends beyond photography, rooted in stewardship, conservation, and a profound respect for the wild, natural world.
