Born from a beloved community pottery class, this course carries forward its spirit of creativity, connection, and shared learning.
About the instructor: Chris Marcotte has been working with clay for more than 30 years and has spent the last 12 years teaching pottery at various locations through the Salt Lake City Continuing Education program. He comes to pottery from a diverse background. He has a BA in Ceramic Arts and Chemistry from the University of Utah. By day he works as an information security analyst and is an all-around nerd.
His teaching philosophy is that pottery can be broken down into a set of core competencies. He focuses on helping students build those foundational skills to fluency, giving them the tools and confidence to develop their own artistic voice as it evolves. He believes that a strong command of the fundamentals creates more freedom for experimentation and creativity.
